In this video you see Riff and Rock learning to press a button which “speaks to an Alexa device. The Recordable Dog Buttons are becoming quite common for folks who choose to teach their dogs to “talk” to them. I employed the button to as the dogs to initiate a call to my husband.
Riff and Rock already knew how to press a button with their noses, so it was a quick swap out of cue words followed by treat rewards, and the pups quickly pressed the button upon my new command.
I recorded this process from the beginning, which was a quick (5 minute) training session in order to show how rapidly a dog can assimilate a new cue for a similar behavior. However, it must be said that it will require much more practice to create a reliable behavior when there are distractions and in different locations.
